Another Surgery

Back on August 1st, Davis had another surgery. In an effort to be mindful of his privacy in the future, details here will be minimal. (SB parents, feel free to leave a comment with your email if you would like more details. Comment moderation is on, so the questions will remain private as well.) We had scheduled inpatient testing for July 30 and 31. Our 9 year wedding anniversary was July 31st. Happy Anniversary to us! Davis was NPO..."nothing by mouth"...for 3 of his 5 day stay. I wish I would have thought to have the nurse take a picture of Brandon and I eating our anniversary dinner that night. We had hospital Chick-Fil-A at 11pm after D fell asleep. ;) The testing was horrible, but went exactly how it was supposed to. The results of the testing revealed that D was an excellent candidate for surgery (that has made all of our lives a bit easier), so they scheduled it for the next day since he was already "prepped." Neither the prep, nor the surgery and recovery were easy, or pleasant, but a little over a month out, and we are soooo happy we did it! D might still disagree with that statement. Someday he'll understand!

The poor baby was so happy when we arrived at the hospital. He was chatty and playful, and overall happy to be there. Then they went and stuck that awful tube up his nose. It.did.not.go.well!

The wet on his shirt? Drool because when he tried to swallow with the tube in, he gagged.

Let's just pause for a moment and think about the fact that she looks 12 here. I don't like it.

After surgery. He did NOT feel good at all. But, the day after surgery they wanted him to get up and try moving around, so...

...we took him outside, and he walked around some.

But he was hurting. Poor baby.

He wanted to play in the fountain. Poor baby could have asked for a pony that day and we probably would have bought one for him. He must not have been the first kid in the fountain though. Technically it's against the rules, but there was a Cooks employee watching him play and never said anything.

Finally starting to feel a little better...as long as they kept the pain and nausea meds coming.

Going home!! Yay! I'm not sure which one of us was more excited!

Overall, the surgery was a huge success! It has had it's hiccups, but we are happy with the results. Davis has even stopped screaming when we touch it, and he knows how to care for it, and the "process" we go through every day. It's a long hour every day, but it's worth it! Once again my sweet boy have proven that there is no one tougher! My sweet little superhero!

Hi Vesti---Thank you for your comment and being a blog reader. What a beautiful family you have and your Davis looks like one tough guy--big fighter. I pray he is doing better.

Thanks again for your comment!
