Walk-N-Roll

https://spinabifidant.myetap.org/fundraiser/WalkNRoll/team.do?participationRef=3676.0.22838310

While I try to figure out why this won't work, click the link above. Ali and I are walking for our boys and raising money for the Spina Bifida Association of North Texas. You can click the link above to find our teams page to donate or find more information. If you want to walk with us, that's great! We would love to have you. Ali is working on a t-shirt for us to wear that day. It's going to be so much fun. It's only 1/2 a mile so just about anyone should be able to join us. Thanks in advance for you love and support!

(I'll be back later in the weekend with pictures!)

2 Months

So, I'm a week late...but we took the picture on the right day! At 2 months, he weighs 11 pounds, 8 ounces; and is 22 1/4 inches long. It doesn't sound like much until you think about the fact that just 2 months ago, he only weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces. :) We got a new reflux medicine. Now he takes one in the morning and a different one at night. The new one hasn't really started working well yet, but it does seem to be helping some. We'll see. They said it could take up to a month to see full effects. They also have us adding a little bit of rice cereal into his bottles to weigh it down so maybe it won't reflux back up so easily. For the record...we only add a couple of teaspoons of cereal to the bottles. He doesn't realize it's in there, there are no chuncks, and it isn't any thicker, just heavier. We don't want him to think it's in there...food goes on spoons, not in bottles. In a few weeks she said we could start giving him cereal by spoon (about a month before typically recommended) because he's already smacking his lips and acting like he wants food, and because it will help with his reflux. We shall see. On his 2 month birthday he moved from the pack-n-play in our room, to the crib in his room. He doesn't notice the difference. Such an easy transition. One down, many to go. He still thinks he needs to eat EVERY.THREE.HOURS around the clock. The pediatrician said to start making him wait until 4 hours during the day, and start cutting out the night feeding. The four hours work OK yesterday, but fat chance on the no middle of the night feeding. We're slowly cutting that one out...one ounce at a time. Other than the reflux, and feeding issues, everything is great! Here, see for yourselves!

At his 2 month appointment, he got 3 "needles" and 1 oral vaccine. I've never seen him cry like he did when she poked him with those needles...but...I didn't cry. The nurse was suprised. She said "most first timers cry." I told her I was just so happy he could feel them! :) From December - April we worried that he might not walk, now we celebrate when he gets shots...taking nothing for granted.

He was not at all impressed with our photoshoot.

Talking to Mama.

Brandon has started early...raising him right. :) He really does watch the tv when baseball is on.

I found this Monday night when I got out of the shower.

I found this Tuesday night when I got out of the shower. :)

I started back to work this week (the 14th). It was a LONG week. Brandon found this when he got out of the shower Thursday. :)

He LOVES Popper. In his worst mood, he will sit just like this with Popper.

Aunt Sha is practicing...she's babysitting while I work the first week of July. Does she look excited?!

My parents have this big sink in their laundry room. Perfect baby bathtub. Granpa bathed him, diapered him, and dressed him. He's getting good.

Davis LOVES bath time. Thank goodness!

Finally! I caught one on camera! Actually, I caught 4. Look at the next few pictures...he was sitting in my mom's lap, and my dad was standing behind her talking.

Look...he has my dimples! Brandon has one too.

You can almost "hear" this one! :)

Then he decided to talk to us.

Then he let us know he was done.

"No more smiling until the camera is gone."

Look how blue his eyes are! Yay!

The End.

Another Random Picture Post

I really don't have much to report. That's good...things are good! :) Yay! D has his 2 month check-up tomorrow morning. Lot's of shots. I havn't told him yet. Hopefully we can get some different medicine for his reflux and he'll start feeling better! Here is the last week in pictures. They still all look the same, but oh well.

He's been talking a lot more. Especially when we put him down on his back and sit with him.

Last Saturday night/Sunday morning I didn't sleep at all. Not one minute. D was up crying/spitting up, and eating ALL.NIGHT.LONG. He would eat one ounce, cry, spit it all up, cry some more, and about 45 mins later, we'd start all over. It was a long, horrible night. When B got home from work Sunday morning, he said he'd handle everything after he mowed the yard. About that time, D went to sleep (finally!). So, I wrote a note so B would know what time he last ate, and to please wake me up so I could pump. Then, I couldn't figure out where to stick it where he would definitely see it. Perfect place! :) Hey, the baby was asleep, and I hadn't been in over 24 hours. I was taking advantage!

Crazy eyes, but a half smile!

I love this one!

More talking.

"OK daddy...that's enough."

This morning he was smiling, kicking, rolling, and talking for a long time.

Another half smile. We were talking to Aunt Sha on skype. (After his diaper blowout.)

This one is fuzzy, but look at that grin!

More crazy eyes. It looks like he was falling asleep, but he wasn't. He was trying to look out the window (and blink at the same time).

He'll be 2 months old Monday! And, I have to go back to work. *sigh* I'll do a 2 month post Monday night and add his stats from tomorrow. His head is great, and so is his development. Keep praying!

Doctor...and A Little Bragging

We had a busy week! A graduation party, and 3 doctor appointments. The first appointment was with the orthopedic specialist. It was precautionary. He said Davis had NORMAL function in his feet and legs! He doesn't think he'll ever need any braces! Yay! He wanted to see him in a year just to make sure all is still well, but he was excited to see Davis' strength and movement. Again...Yay! One more doc down.

Today, we had 2 appointments. The first was with the plastic surgeon. Look back at some of the pictures from past posts. His right ear is fully developed, and fully functioning, but not fully separated at the top. The doc said it's a simple procedure. Won't take long, and won't require much (if any) of a recovery time. He would like to wait until D is about 1 1/2 or 2 to do the surgery. There's no rush, it's all cosmetic, but he wants to take care of it before D starts to know what's going on. I agree. He said that if for some reason he needs another surgery in the next year or so, then he could likely go ahead and do his part while D is already asleep. He wanted to follow-up every 6 months until surgery, just to make sure. Fine by me. One more doc down.

The next appointment today was another follow-up with the neurosurgeon. He (and the PA) were both VERY pleased with everything. His most recent MRI showed yet another PERFECT brain! Praise God! They sat down and showed us both scans on the computer and how they compared. Originally, they had said they would do an MRI and an office visit every month for the first 6 months, and then one appointment every six months after that as long as he has no shunt. Well...everything is going so well, they want to wait 3 months for his next office visit, and from there they would decide when to do the next MRI. This both thrills me, and terrifies me! I like medical proof that everything is ok. But, they know what they're doing. If they're happy, so am I. So, we'll keep watching for signs/symptoms of problems (swelling/water on his brain) and see them again in September.

As always, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for you prayers!!

I only have a few pictures tonight. Until he really starts to "do" more, the pictures all kind-of look the same. :)

He was a tad grouchy after going to the doctor and a little shopping Wednesday afternoon.

Watching the toys hanging from the activity mat. One of them "sings."

Eye contact. A milestone we've definitely mastered.

Sweet ,sleeping baby! I love to watch him sleep. I just took this one a few minutes ago.

One more...I have to brag on my other boy. :)

B got a new job!! He's wanted a job closer to home since we moved out here. Two weeks from now, he will start his new job here in town...10 mins from the house...and 2 mins from D's daycare! The extra special part about this job is that he is no longer anyone's assistant. He is THE superintendent! His only bosses are the owner and GM. We couldn't be more excited, and I couldn't be more proud!

Preventing Tragedy

After a semi-ugly email from my dad, and his fear that after going so long without a post he wouldn't be able to recognize Davis if he ran up to him at the park, I thought I should give you all a little dose of D. My dad calls it "preventing tragedy." Ha. We're doing great. We have a couple of appointments this week...one of them is with the neurosurgeon (just another follow-up). Please pray! I'll update again Friday afternoon.

Already not a big fan of the "momarazzi." Sorry Buddy...get used to it.

So serious! And still not impressed with the camera. :)

Talking to Mama. I LOVE IT! Such a sweet little voice when talking...not so much when crying.

Look who decided that he can, in fact, sleep without being held!! I heard angels singing that day! So what if he has to be on his stomach. We keep a close eye on him. (And, look at that little mouth!)

He started smiling for real...on purpose. So far, this is the best I can catch with the camera...darn delay! It's really cute! In time...folks...just give me time. I'll get it.

He's really strong! Yes, he's holding himself up there, and standing on B's stomach. It doesn't last long before we have to "catch" him, but he shouldn't be able to do that. :)

These next 2 are a little proof that we may need to babyproof WAY sooner than we thought!
His head was down between that lump by his feet. There's another one hidden behind his bottom. He crawled right on up that wedge and over the side...

...and wasn't happy about his new position at all! After he took the picture, Daddy rescued him. Mommy was too busy laughing. :)

Tonight, we're going to a graduation party for my little (perhaps I should say younger) cousin Blake. Congratulations Blake!! We're all so proud of you!!
