Random Picture Post

I have so many random pictures, and nothing to really report, so here you go...

My cousin Trey. His baby Cannon, and me and D.

Cannon is really quite helpful. :)

And so stinkin cute!

A "work shirt" just like Grandpa's.

Doing our homework. D is getting quite good at it.

I LOVE this picture. Nanny waited 5 weeks to meet D. She was beyond excited. B and I really love Nanny and Burl (Pe-Pa)...I know D will too!

And, now meeting Pe-Pa.

B's cousin Johnny and his baby London, and B and D. Davis only got to be the "baby" for 3 weeks. Little London was ready to come too! :) (Look at their mouths...and chins...and noses...and eyes. They're "Wyatt's" alright!)

This may very well be a first! My dad never changed any of mine, or my sister's diapers, but he volunteered himself for this one! He did great...and put his clothes on afterwards. He had motive...

...to take D on his first ride in the mule! :) Dawg (big black one) liked the baby...Harley, not so much!!

More "working."

I had my 6-week check-up with Dr. Tabor today. Everything is good. They said to take it easy for a few more weeks. It's normal that I'm still quite "sore." That isn't the right word, but it's the best I can do tonight. Dr. T was funny...he talked to Davis and played with him and his hands and feet. He was excited to hear how well he's doing. He also said he'd deliver our future babies too! Yay! God bless that man!!

Many of you have asked...yes, we had the MRI Tuesday. We were supposed to see the neurosurgeon tomorrow, but they won't be there. The appointment was moved to next week. I called about the results. The nurse said that the results did come in, but she couldn't give them over the phone. She said that if they were bad Dr. Roberts would have called. Then asked if that made me feel better. Ha. I'm a big fan of hers too! :)

As always, thank you for praying! Have a good weekend!!

I am way too tired for a clever title tonight. We are packing to go out of town for a funeral, but I wanted to put up a few recent pictures. Also, the physical therapist from ECI (early childhood intervention) evaluated Davis Tuesday. On that day, he was one month, four days old. On all of her tests, his physical skills/development scored at 2 months, and his cognitive skills scored at 3 months! :) Yay!! She also said he did not qualify for therapy services based on his skills. But, she said because he has the spina bifida diagnosis, he can automatically get services monthly anyways, if I wanted them. I said yes...I'd rather her come monthly and keep an eye on him. Ahead is ALWAYS better than delayed!

We have several appointments next week. D has his second MRI on Tuesday, I have my post-op follow-up appointment Thursday, and D sees the neurosurgeon again Friday. Please keep praying for our sweet baby's brain!! I'll keep you all posted.

Standing on daddy's hand! He actually "stands" alot! :)

Meeting baby Dylan. Neither were interested in having their picture made. Oh well. Next time.

Brandon always makes sure to show him the pictures after he reads a page. :) It's cute.

I have no idea why this one is upside down. I would blame blogger, but the watermark is correct, so I must have messed it up somehow. Oh well.

D and his cattle-raffe from Aunt Vasha. Technically it's a giraffe, but a few people (ahem...Nana and Gammi) think it looks like a cow, so Brandon named it a cattle-raffe. It's cute, but I'm afraid that in a few years he's going to want to go see the cattle-raffe's when we go to the zoo. :) HaHa.

I don't remember where we were, or what we were doing, but he was less than impressed!

Looking out the window while Nana talks to Grandpa.

I took this one so you could all see the additional chins he's gained in the last few weeks. I love it! You can also see where his hair is starting to fall out. I was hoping to avoid this, but no. And, not only is it falling out, so far it's only falling out on the very top! He looks like a little old man! I find myself rubbing his head on the sides and back.

Tummy time! We spend ALOT of time like this every day. I line all the toys up above his head, and as he raises his head to look at them, I play with them. They all either rattle, sing, light up, or have mirrors on the bottom. He's doing great! Raises his head great and holds it way longer than he needs too. And, he is able to roll from his belly to his back...but not from his back to his belly. We're working on that. It's harder.

I took this one today. My boys like to nap together. :) Look at that sweet little foot on his daddy's arm. Love it!

1 Month

Davis is one month old today! He had his one month check-up with the pediatrician, and I'm certain he doesn't want to go back anytime soon! He weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces; and was 21 inches long. If he keeps this up, he'll be the size of a preschooler by his 1st birthday! The doctor said everything looks great. Development is on track, even a tad advanced. Size is good. Health is good. She did give us a prescription for reflux medicine. Hopefully we can all get some relief! I'll let you know. They also did his circumcision today. He was NOT a fan. We weren't allowed into the room when they did it, but we could hear him. She said he screamed and fought like crazy when they were strapping him to the table, taking the diaper off, and putting the numbing medicine on. Then, he was fine for the actual procedure. Good. Now? Not so good. Bless his heart. He's been SUPER fussy this afternoon/evening. We gave some tylenol (don't worry...store brand), and he's now sleeping on my chest as I type. Sweet baby...hopefully he'll feel better in the morning.

As always, thank you for your prayers! Have a good weekend!!

You can't read it, but his shirt says "ruff day." When we got up this morning, I thought this was the most appropriate outfit given what was about to happen. :) Don't let the "happy" look fool you. It lasted all of 1 second...but now he's sleeping again.

Catch-Up

I'm a little behind. I've been busy. Tomorrow, Davis will be 1 month old. Check back then for another update. In the meantime, here is the last week in pictures.

My first Mother's Day was a success! It was also Davis' first time at church. He did well. He decided it was time to eat about the time the sermon began, but I was prepared. :)

Leaving church Sunday. We also moved our membership from our church in Carrollton...finally.

Davis and Grandpa decided a Sunday nap was needed.

Look how he holds his head up! He does this for LONG periods of time.

Memaw and Papaw came back. I think they missed him. :)

The cord finally fell off (belly button), so he can get down in the tub. He liked it. I should clarify that since he cries most of the time, we consider ANYTHING he does without crying a success!

Cannon came back today! At first, holding the baby was kind-of fun.

Then the baby started to cry...

And so did Cannon! :) It really was cute. We'll try again next time.

10 years ago today (may 13th), Brandon and I went on our first date. When I got home that night, I told my sister I wasn't going to go out with him again. He went home and told his best friend that he was going to marry me. Ha. He won! I love you babe, I'm am forever appreciative of your persistence after that first date! Who would of thought 10 years ago that we'd have 3 college degrees, 2 jobs we love, own a home, and have a beautiful baby boy?! I love you!!

And, finally...
Uncle Matt and Aunt Vasha will be comming to babysit while I'm at work the first week of July. They will be flying in on July 2nd. We're all excited. This chain came in the mail for D yesterday with instructions to remove one "link" every day, for the next 53 days. We took one off today. 1 down, 52 to go! :)

Like I said, I'll be back tomorrow with a "1 month" post. Davis may not be overly excited, mainly because the circumcision that didn't get done in the hospital is scheduled for tomorrow. Yikes. Either way...post tomorrow!

As always, thank you all for your prayers! He's doing so good! Every time we see a doctor or therapist, they say that they've never seen "skills" like his in a spina bifida baby! He's blowing us all away! God is so good!!

Brown

My Popper...my dad's dad...Doyle Brown...Holding his newest great-grandson for the first time. It was a very sweet moment. Popper sang, Davis listened. See:

He is so proud, and clearly, Davis is comfortable! :)

Popper even let Ninny have a turn! Ha...She had to fight for her turn.

These next few are just some extra's...

He thinks he has to be held at all times. The other day I discovered that he'll sit in the boppy. I think he thinks someone is holding him! :)

Look who finally decided that perhaps the bouncy seat isn't so bad afterall! He sat in this thing...happy...for almost 30 minutes Friday while I "got ready." Yay!

Tomorrow Davis gets to go to church for the first time! We're excited. I'm excited because his first ever church experience, will be my first mother's day! I'll post about that one day this week. For the first time since he was born, he only has ONE appointment this week...and it's just his one month check-up with the pediatrician. Finally...a relaxing week. Relaxing is a very loose term. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Proof

Here are some pictures from tonight (and one or two from yesterday). He's so very expressive. I caught all of these while he was playing on his activity mat. He even...not at all on purpose..."hit" 2 of the toys hanging down several times. There's also an "awake smile." :) Here's the proof...that will likely only be interesting to grandparents, aunts, and uncles. (and, yes...I am fully aware that the watermark goes through the middle of his face. oh well. It's small, and light.)

My new favorite!

All that playing wore him out.

Since daddy had to go to bed, this is what he's doing right this second. Yay for a wonderful neighbor who gave us TWO swings! He loves them both!

This one is just bonus. Last night he was holding his head up forever to look out the window.

We have the kidney/bladder test tomorrow. Please pray for all of us. It's a horrible, aweful test. But, it looks at the function, and/or lack of. Since we came home, we've been having to cath him once a day, but we never get more than a drop or two. He pees on his own, and it even arches appropriately (someday he will LOVE the fact that I'm sharing all of this). There's a good chance we won't have to do it anymore if the test shows all his parts function well enough on their own. Again, please pray!! He HATES the cath. He can feel it, and lets us know. It's a job that always REQUIRES 2 people. We'll get the results when we see the doctor Thursday. I'll let you know what they say!!
