We always have so much fun at the state fair. Brandon told someone that for me, going to the fair rates only slightly behind Christmas. I've never thought about it, but he's right! I LOVE IT! And, we were still able to avoid the rides this year. Davis and Anna both LOVE watching the rides, but I don't think either one of them realize that they can ride them. They've never asked, so we don't offer. We're good parents like that. ;) We got there when it opened, and left at their bedtime. We spent 10 hours eating and playing and eating some more.
That would be ice cream dripping off of her chin. She LOVED the live calf. And the ice cream.
The autoshow was definitely a hit!
Love this one! She loves her Daddy.
This robot's name is Hank. He's interactive, and adults think he's super cool. You can only imagine how much the kids liked him.
They hopped in and when we asked where they were going D said "to Colorado to see Aunt Vasha! And Erick!"
They had fun at the little kids "play," but...
...half-way through, this on decided lunch was LATE.
They chose pizza for lunch. Surrounded by fried goodness, they wanted pizza. Strange kids.
The butter sculpture this year was the old Big Tex.
THIS.never.happens!!!! We had over 2 hours to roam as we pleased without thinking about what THEY would be interested in!!
Then it was back to the auto show to interact with Hank. :)
Just a few days after we were there last year the original Big Tex burned down. Such a sad day! We were happy that when they rebuilt him, he still looked mostly the same. I will say though, he looked noticeably shorter. Not sure if he actually is, or if he was just wider, so he looked shorter. Perhaps I'll research that a bit.
In the little hands farm area, Davis INSISTED on being the farmer, but I couldn't see him. He didn't care.
Sweet boy.
Driving a tractor is serious business. There certainly isn't time to smile for Mama's camera.
This one was too excited not to smile at Mama.
They were convinced that this was one of Grandpa's longhorns. Couldn't convince them otherwise, so we gave up and said yes.
They could have played here all day.
Love those curls!
If you ask Anna what a pig says, she does this while she "oinks."
I'd like to just say one thing about these pigs. It's no secret that I don't love animals, but I grew up with tons of them. My parents have a farm (but no pigs). PIGS STINK! Oh. My. Goodness. These in particular, smelled horrible! I do not remember them smelling so bad in years past. Blech.
The End! Can't wait to go back next year!
